Maynia at Dreamworld - Cancelled

It is with extreme regret that the ‘Maynia’ live music event, to be held at Dreamworld on Saturday May 5, has been cancelled.

The organisers, Empire Events, today confirmed their decision to cancel as they were unhappy with the proposed noise modelling plans that would satisfy the Gold Coast City Council’s administration of the Environmental Protection Act.

Empire Events Managing Director, Alex Prelac said “we feel most for the thousands of fans who have purchased their tickets who won’t get to witness their favourite artists in one of the most unique venue settings in Australia.”

“The proposed noise levels would have affected the performance of the headline acts and the enjoyment levels of the patrons,” Mr Prelac said.

“Due to the nature of the acts involved, we simply couldn’t, in good conscience, go ahead with staging the event knowing the impact the proposed noise reduction levels would have on the artists, their fans and surrounding residents.”

Along with the artists, agents and managers, Empire events sincerely apologises for any inconvenience this has caused any of the patrons.

Empire Events has staged many successful events at Dreamworld including the dnd Ball and Odyssey New Years Eve attracting in excess of 6000 party goers at each event.

The cancellation of this event will in no way effect future events planned at the theme park or the strong relationship between Dreamworld and Empire Events.

Empire Events and Dreamworld will continue to work together to bring world class events and headline acts to the Gold Coast destination.
